Writer for Hire

Ghostwriting costs will vary greatly from project-to-project. Here, I have outlined the basics. For a specific quote, please contact me.

I don’t ask for any part of subsequent royalties or advance once the work is published. I also do not ask to be credited in the completed book in any way. Once I turn the work over to you, it’s yours to do with as you see fit. If you wish to credit me, you may do so at your discretion, but I do not expect it.

Depending upon the depth of my work, the charge will vary.

I have organized my rates by word count range.

line-editrewrite

Very intense editing I classify under my ghostwriting tab because it’s at least as labor intensive. If you’re looking for someone to take your rough draft and polish it into a final draft, then I’m your guy (actually, gal). This, like any other ghostwriting project, will depend upon your specific work and the amount of line-editing required.

Basic calculation for line-editing/heavy rewriting is as follows:

$4-$8 per industry-standard page (approx. 250 words)
OR
2.5-4 cents per word (of provided draft that I am rewriting)

ghostwriting

Flash fiction or short work (Under 6000 words)

The following rates will be agreed upon based on my depth of work. The more content you have to provide, the lower the cost. Lowest charge assumes writing from a rough draft. Highest charge assumes general summary of work, including any research needed.
Per word: 10¢ – 40¢
Per page: $6 – $10 (using industry-standard formatting)
Per hour: $25
Per project: $75 – $500 (preferred)

Per project is a set price that I agree upon with the client after an interview and after some sample reading of their prepared material. The simplest of projects will be $100 and up, assume no research is required and the work is short. The longer the piece, the more research required, the higher the price. A “total project” price allows for the best of work to be accomplished not reliant upon time or length.

Short story or short novella (6000-15000 words)

Per word: 10¢ – 40¢
Per page: $6 – $12 (using industry-standard formatting)
Per hour: $25
Per project: $100 – $1800 (preferred)

Novella or short novel (15,000-50,000 words)

Per word: 10¢ – 40¢
Per page: $5 – $12 (using industry-standard formatting)
Per hour: $25
Per project: $300 – $5000 (preferred)
Per project is a set price that I agree upon with the client after an interview and after some sample reading of their prepared material. The simplest of projects will be $800 and up, assume no research is required and the work is short. The longer the piece, the more research required, the higher the price. With this agreement, 10% is due at the contract signing, with a monthly rate set until the completion of the project where the remainder of the originally set price would be paid. This method ensures a thoroughly researched and well-written piece without paranoid watching of word counts or sloppily rushing through interviews. A “total project” price allows for the best of work to be accomplished not reliant upon time or length.

Short novel or novel (50,000 – 90,000 words)

Per page: $5 – $15
Per hour: $25

*Contracting me to ghostwrite a book for you stands completely independent of whether or not your book or work gets published. If you want to contract the book with a publisher before you hire me to ensure your success, I suggest you do that. But my rates do not change and my contract stands even if your book never gets picked up by a publisher.
Before any money is exchanged, both parties will read and sign a written contract for their own protection. The contract will have clearly stated expectations and payment methods written out so both contractor and ghostwriter are on the same page.
